Victory at Angelbachtal Highland Games 2026

Jul 12, 2026

This weekend’s Highland Games brought together another strong field of solo pipers for a fantastic day of competition. Despite the summer heat, the atmosphere was excellent and the standard of playing was exceptionally high.

I was delighted to finish the day with two podium results:

🏆 1st Place – MSR (March, Strathspey & Reel)

🥈 2nd Place – Hornpipe & Jig

Winning the MSR is especially rewarding, as this discipline showcases the core traditions of Highland piping through precision, musicality, expression and consistency.

Performing Under Pressure
Playing in hot weather always adds another layer of challenge. Maintaining steady bag pressure, keeping the instrument stable and staying focused throughout each performance required both preparation and concentration.

Competitions like these are an opportunity not only to measure progress but also to learn from fellow pipers and receive valuable feedback from experienced judges.

Looking Ahead
Every competition is another step in the journey of continuous improvement. These results provide great motivation as I prepare for the next Highland Games and solo competitions later this season.

A sincere thank you to the organisers, judges, volunteers and everyone who contributed to another memorable event.

See you at the next competition!
